The Gothic Tradition in English Literature

by Randi Pahlau

Gothic novels: Are they really as dangerous as Catherine Morland decides them to be when confronted by Henry Tilney? Some thought they were. Find out what polite English society really told their young women.  Ohio North Coast member Randi Pahlau, Assistant Professor of English at Malone University, will shed some light on the dark and stormy genre that features so prominently in Northanger Abbey.
